HOW TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO EXERCISE REGULARLY AT HOME. 5 TIPS TO A CONSISTENT WORKOUT EVERYDAY.
You can transform your life & elevate it to a much higher level by one very simple activity: EXERCISE.
People nowadays are willing to coat their bodies with anti-ageing creams and consume age-longevity tablets, when they know it to themselves that the ultimate solution to a young & fantastic lifestyle is by indulging in every day physical activity.
If you are
someone who desires to exercise every day, but is never consistent in the
habit, I have some workable tips for you down here. Be sure to read it till the
end.
Why arenāt
we serious about exercising every day when we still know about the benefits it will
bring? Can we call it laziness? Of course..!!
You may say
you are extremely busy all day & canāt spare those valuable hours for
exercising. You are toiling hard for years, for someone else, canāt you spare 10 mins
every day for yourself?
āREMEMBER:
YOU CAN CHASE MONEY THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE, BUT ONCE HEALTH IS LOST, IT CAN
SLOWLY EAT UP THE ENTIRE WEALTH YOUāVE ACCUMULATED, IN THE FORM OF MEDICAL
TREATMENT EXPENSESā.
Listen to this story:
Bobby
Fischer, one of the greatest chess superstars, did not spend his days solely
studying chess strategies of his opponents nor practicing the game throughout
the day. The first thing he did everyday was to put on his shoes & jog for
several miles.
He practiced swimming to increase his mental endurance & physical stamina. This was his ultimate weapon to unlock his extraordinary potential.
Why would someone engaging in a mental activity require physical fitness? Because when you are physically fit, it naturally reflects in the way your mind focuses & functions.
Once you are on a fitness program,
you will become so used to it that it becomes a daily habit like brushing your
teeth and showering.
Always remember āTHE PERSON WHO MAKES NO TIME FOR EXERCISE, MAKES TIME FOR ILLNESSā.
Now, few
people really wanna get into a fitness program, but it gets hard for you to
stay consistent over time. You may be already exercising, but they are so
irregular & inconsistent.
How to work out consistently? How to
habitualise exercising?
-> Here are
5 steps I follow everyday to work out consistently;
1. START SMALL
and stick strongly to it:
Whenever you start to exercise keep the duration as low as possible. Start with 2 push-ups a day or 10 secs of planks or 4 lunges a day or 5 mins of workout every day.
When you fix the duration to the lowest, your mind programs in such a way that even if you arenāt able to workout on a day, your mind will push you to do it saying āITS JUST 5 MINS DEAR, DO ITā. By just working out for 21 days, you will start sticking to the habit & can gradually increase the duration.
The most common mistake people make is they start off by saying āToday, Iām gonna workout for 45 mins, do 30 lunges, do 3 mins of planksā and they do it for that one day only. The next day, when you wake up, you are in no way excited & simply lose interest and forget about it. Then you never workout at all.
āSTART AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE AND TAKE IT UP TO 21 DAYS. 21 days is all it takes. Just startā.
2.
GET WORK OUT PARTNERS:
The best motivation in the world is a Good Workout partner. If you exercise alone, youāll start with full of excitement, continue for probably 4 days, after that youāll not even think about exercising.
If you know someone who is willing to exercise or is already exercising, speak to them, ask them to accompany you. You can stay far apart but still exercise together. You may feel lazy on someday and want to skip, but when you hear that the other person has finished, youāll buckle up and push yourself to complete.
NOW, HEREāS A VERY PRACTICAL APPROACH:
Accommodate all those who are willing to exercise in a separate WHATSAPP
GROUP. Initially let everyone update on what exercise they are going to do with the duration.
For example: You can choose to do 5 push-ups everyday (or) 5 mins of skipping. Everyday after the workout is done, go and update in the group.
A PERSONAL SUGGESTION HERE IS: Donāt accommodate more than 10 people in a group. The more the people, the lesser becomes the individual attention. Some people may go unnoticed. SO HAVE THE GROUP SMALL. Even if you have 3 people who can exercise along, thatās far enough.
3.
FOLLOW FITNESS IDOLS:
There are numerous popular celebs and fitness experts who are active on social media. They keep posting videos, challenges and their routines which ultimately motivates you. Imagine you become lazy one day & want to omit your workout, and when you suddenly see your idolās post showing up on Instagram, they again inspire you to get up and sweat it out.
I am a biggest fitness follower of VJ Ramya. For more than 3 years now, Iāve been following her videos on YouTube, diet tips & every time her videos pop on my screen, the next day of workout gets super intense..!!!
4.
USE WORK OUT APPS:
There are a plethora of apps available out there for free which you can definitely give a shot. They are best instructors you can have by your side while you workout. Ask your workout partners to download the similar app, track your progress and compete.
I use the WOMEN FITNESS APP for my regular exercises. This app has target exercises along with time & calories calculator. Iād recommend women to check it out.
For men there is also a similar app called HOME WORKOUT ā NO EQUIPMENT. You can check that. These apps recommend exercises according to your fitness goal: Be it weight loss, weight gain, build muscles, or just stay in shape.
If you prefer Yoga, then Shilpa Shetty has her own yoga cum diet help app. These are all my few personal suggestions, but you can explore so many other options available. If you donāt prefer an app, YouTube has exquisite resources to assist you.
5.
MIX UP & ALTERNATE BETWEEN
EXERCISES:
This is one fine way to beat boredom while workouts. On day 1 you can do 5 push-ups, on day 2 you can do 5 sit-ups instead. Then after a weekās routine, you can add 1 min of plank. Alternate between exercises so that you are able to venture on different types of exercises.
I mostly alternate with cardio on one day, and abs or lower body the next day. Mixing them is all up to you. Make sure you donāt workout too much initially because it may lead to body pain and cramps.
āTAKE IT SLOW BUT MAKE IT STEADYā.
TIP: Give your body some rest for one day. I donāt work out on Sundays. In case I miss out on some other day, I try and compensate on a Sunday. But itās always 6 days a week of exercising for me.
Well, thatās a beautiful compilation of what I have been doing to exercise consistently. Each one of them
are being followed by me every day and is presented to you in the form of this blog post. I hope this motivates you. Do
