Decluttering and organising your mobile phone aids in mental detox. Here's from my experience.!
Technology has made mobile phones a significant tool for communication. All of us have mobile phones and are using it to do multiple jobs.
But have we ever spent time to declutter and organise our mobile phones? How often do we delete unwanted stuffs and organise our phones?
I recently decluttered my mobile phone and to my surprise, this process was relaxing and peaceful. Haven't we been taught to delete unwanted thoughts and stuffs? Similar applies here.
The intention here is not only to create more storage space, but to burst some stress, relax and enjoy the process.
The intention here is not only to create more storage space, but to burst some stress, relax and enjoy the process.
Well..!!! This process is totally from a personal experience and let's see how we feel at the end of it. Before we begin, check your current storage space and start off.
- Get rid of unwanted image files:
Start with opening your gallery \ google photos. As you move down, randomly keep deleting images which you find inutile and are simply occupying space.
To be precise start from whatsapp images which is always loaded with multiple photos and videos. Continue this and I'm sure you'll love this activity.
- File manager is the next go-to:
All PDFs, doc files, voice notes etc etc are literally crowded here. Start from documents, continue deleting all those you feel is unimportant or means nothing now.
Believe it or not! Deleting files from File manager is a therapeutic process. If you are a student, you might have downloaded \ received a bunch of PDFs, study notes, syllabus, blue prints etc which you may find are absolutely unnecessary now.
- Trashing apps:
Now that you have got rid of all small files, it's time for the biggies. With most of the mobile phones coming with mega storage these days, apps are never less in our phones. Start trashing those apps which are sitting idle and providing no welfare.
Also open you Mail and clear unwanted mails. If you feel certain subscriptions are of no use and simply spamming, unsubscribe to them right away.
Woah..! How does this process feel now? I'm loving it as much as you do.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND THIS APPROACH:
Studies show, " The stress hormone Cortisol has a direct link with clutter. When your mind sees more mess and clutter, cortisol rapidly increases. The hormone not only relates to stress but also depression".
When you declutter there is a significant reduction in cortisol levels. Whenever you feel stressed or low, try and declutter something around you. It shouldn't necessarily be your mobile, it can even be your desk, your dresser, bag, wardrobe or any corner of your home.
Now, go back and check your mobile storage. Isn't this process just amazing?
Yes, decluttering is a therapy in itself; It is a process of healing.
